Leisure Connections
United Way of the Lower MainlandAn exciting integrated social recreation program for people 60+ with mild to moderate memory loss living in the Tri-Cities. This innovative program will provide a welcoming, positive, and energized environment.

This program has been developed for people with mild dementia / Alzheimers who may feel that they have limited opportunities to participate in community social recreation programs. This program is practical, fun, and promises to encourage, motivate and educate the participants to discover a better quality of life. The focus is to increase social interaction, share laughs, enjoy meals together, and develop new friendships. Participants will gain new skills, and access resources, enabling them to benefit from a new found energy and sense of well being.

The Leisure Connections Program

  • Assists both the person with dementia and the caregiver
  • Reduces social isolation provides a safe supportive environment
  • Focuses on strengths and interests of participants
  • Explores strategies and adaption's to continue enjoying their lifestyle and quality of life
  • Provides respite, information, resources and support for the participant and caregiver
  • Encourages laughter, fun, creativity and developing new friendships

Program Schedule

The Leisure Connections program operates once a week on Tuesdays from 11:15am - 2:45pm at the Glen Pine Pavilion. Transportation can be provided by HandyDart.
